Beer Festival

Glorious Drinking News from the Bar Team!!

It’s hard to imagine that just 5 years ago we assembled in a barn at Steeple Leaze and sampled just 14 beers and 3 or 4 ciders. This Bank holiday we have a range of over 40 real ales and 20 ciders. Back this year are Folk favourites from the Isle of Purbeck Brewery, Piddle Brewery, Yeovil Ales and Hop Back Brewery. I reckon I would be lynched by an angry mob if I was to deny you your favourite tipples!

There are two new breweries to the real ale scene. Corfe Castle Brewery is just down the road from our Festival and has already established itself on many a bar in the Dorset area. If you are from outside Dorset, you’ll have to try it, as the owners have vowed NEVER to sell it outside the county! Sunny Republic is a bright new brewing company dedicated to making cutting edge, highly drinkable beer. Their philosophy is to lead and never copy. They dare to brew imaginative new beer that will stimulate palates and rock bars! We tried a number of ‘one of’ firkins last year and this year and we have over 10 different firkins from a variety of micro breweries.

Purbeck Folk Real Ales Award

This year we aim to crown a couple of the tipples on offer with the Purbeck Folk, Beer and Cider Festival awards. Your favourite top three ales will be given a Gold Silver and Bronze award. Pick up your voting form at the bar and there’s no rush to fill it in. We will announce the winner on the website when the festival is over.

Ciders

I know some of you die hard real drinkers hate to admit it, but cider is rising in popularity and last year we sold over 2000 pints of the stuff. I know it may be difficult, but you might want to go over to the “dark side” to see what all the fuss is about. With over 20 different varieties on offer, it’s worth a gamble. You might never turn back!!

Please feel free to chat to us at the bar about what you like and (hopefully not) what you don’t like. We hope you enjoy our selection.
