About Us

Purbeck Folk Festival is an award-winning small festival set on a sheep farm on the beautiful Jurassic Coastline. We don’t have a general demographic at Purbeck because we’re a festival that’s loved by everyone. There’s loads for kids to do, loads for parents and loads for the old folkies!

Purbeck Folk Festival is a weekend festival in its sixth year featuring outstanding, original young folk, roots and world music. We always encourage the young up and coming musicians too as well as booking national and international folk acts and a good variety of local music. There’s something for everyone.

Each year we’ve been growing – just a tiny bit. Just enough so that you come back and discover something new. Last year we had a new stage/tent which hosted our Purbeck Rising final and some ‘come & play’ open mic and jam sessions. We also had some epic lunchtime song sessions, a cinema area, archery in the forest, knotting workshops, a meditation area, and a few other bits and pieces here and there.

What makes us so special? Well, Purbeck Folk Festival is set on a unique and compact farm ‘arena’ with professional stages erected in ingeniously converted barns. It’s a little farm yard so it doesn’t take you ages to walk from one stage to the other, and it’s always easy to find your friends.

And, we’re in the Purbecks so camping is in an idyllic landscape with beautiful views. Parts of the campsite look right across Swanage Bay and over to the Isle of Wight. And it’s free with weekend ticket! BARGAIN!

We’re having so charge a small fee for campervans this year, but that’s just because last year we learnt that we need to be able to cater for chemical toilet disposal – and that shit is expensive! ;-)
